James "Jimmy" Hoffa
||In 1957, James R. Hoffa gains control of the International
Brotherhood of Teamsters.
The revelations of a Senate Committee led the
AFL-CIO to expel the Teamsters that same year, and it wasn't until 1987 that
the two unions were rejoined.
Hoffa disappeared from the parking lot of
the Machus Red Fox restaurant in Bloomfield Township on July 30, 1975 and was
declared legally dead in 1982.
In 1999, James P. Hoffa, his only son,
followed Dad's lead and became President of the Teamsters Union.
